Collection: Filey Art Society

As part of our ongoing support for Filey Art Society, we exhibit the work of one of their members each month.

For June they have chosen the work of Nick Farmer.

Nick Farmer has lived in Filey for the past seven years; he only began painting during Covid lockdown. He started on the back of old wallpaper and lining paper, using match pots and sample paints, developing his work and progressing through mediums of acrylic and onto oils.

Nick has joined art groups in Filey, Gristhorpe and Hunmanby. His proudest moment to date was being selected for a commission to be on permanent display in the village hall in Gristhorpe, it was titled 'All That England has to offer, Yorkshire has already.' This was to celebrate the Coronation of King Charles III.

Having reached an age where he is slowing down on the work front, Nick is able to hone his modest skills and develop his painting and drawing abilities. Nick says "I may never be a Rembrant or Van Gogh...or will I? I could be worth a fortune, don't miss out!"
