Working from her studio in Scarborough, Lindsey is inspired and driven by a love of nature and the inherent essence of her surroundings. In addition to this, she loves the challenge of combining many and varied textile/art processes and techniques.
Originally a weave designer in the Automotive industry, after starting a family, she became self-employed and sidestepped into the world of felt making.
The word ‘felt’ brings with it a variety of reactions – some not so positive – so her main aim with her numo work is to create sophisticated, quality products that defy their description and to alter the unfair perception that felt has to be brightly coloured, thick and unsophisticated! It is such a versatile medium.
In addition to Lindsey’s felt works, she has also chosen Seagull Gallery as the launch gallery for her new range of abstract work based on living by the North Sea. “Although my recent work is abstract in nature, I try to capture a little of the essence of my surroundings – after a lifetime living by the sea in this beautiful part of the country.”
