Ian Mitchell

‘Linescapes’ are Ian's unique delineation of the landscape based on a stripped down reality. His series of limited edition landscape prints celebrating the British Coast and Countryside pay homage to the early 20th Century travel posters, and draw on the reductive style of early twentieth century German and Swiss design. Using his original sketches and photographs, Ian refines and reduces the source material down to minimalist forms and shapes, discarding clutter and using artistic license as he goes.

His work to date has been routed in the British Landscape tradition of natural scenery. However, Ian is increasingly drawn to the contemporary man-made landscapes, the concrete modernism of architecture, bridges and the sea defences that symbolise the ‘British Seaside Resort’ and more recently has been working on a series of works celebrating the 40th anniversary of the creation of the Wolds Way.

We are able to supply all of Ian's current ranges, including Yorkshire Coast, Yorkshire Countryside, North East, North West, Scotland, Wales, Isle of Man, South Downs, Malvern Hills and Dams & Reservoirs.

All of Ian's works are limited editions, 250 available in each image.
